'Call of Nature' mural finished

Finished collaborative Mural "Call of Nature" by Crisp, Miko and Tish. Bogota Colombia. I must admit that my contribution to this mural was to do some of the buildings and windows. The boys did a great job of the rest. It was fun to be part of this project and gain a greater insight into what Street art is about. It was lovely to see people enjoying the art being done in their neighbourhood on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. It is such community-based art.

I haven't been as active on my blog lately as I had hoped I would be. However, I have started an art fb page to use to display my art work. I am finding it more fun and easier to use, so I think I will use that more often now than this blog. A mural in progress. This mural named 'Nature Calling' was produced by Crisp, Miko and Tish in Bogota Colombia on a sunny Sunday. I will post the completed mural on the next post.

The ladder was borrowed from a local shop. When Miko offered to leave his watch as collateral  for the ladder, the owner refused saying that they trusted him and it wasn't necessary. How very kind.

Tish is my street art name and I am not very active in the street art scene. However, I very much enjoyed sharing the experience with Miko and Crisp, but it isn't really me. I liked doing something out of my comfort zone as a challenge though!

I'm back after a no blogging break.

It is taking me awhile to get used to the blogging and making it a weekly habit. It may be because I am a fairly private person, who doesn't feel the need to tell people what I am doing. It also could be because although I have been busy painting, I haven't been finishing my paintings. I have been chasing the new challenge and going from one painting to the next. Anyway, I have a lot to finish,so I must get onto it this month. In the meantime, what picture to post on the blog. Let me think!

Aha, I love the wonderful effects you can get with watercolour. Back washes used to be discouraged in traditional watercolour practice, times have changed and you can do what you like now, and have such fun with them. Here I have used back washing in the sky, mountains, hills and foreground. I like them. What so you think?

I apologise for not blogging for some time. I have been very busy doing lots of other activities. I am still painting but just not blogging. I will get back to it soon. In the meantime, I will pop on a little work from the past. This is one of my early portraits of my lovely niece completed in the 1980s. I cannot recall the year I did it at the moment. The photo of the portrait is pretty awful.  I will need to take another one this. You can see how old the album is. Until next time enjoy your art.

Quick sketch type portrait of my son as a child

Quick watercolour brushwork sketch from life

I did this painting years ago of my son. I had to be quick because he wasn't going to stay still long. I had my watercolours mixed and brushes ready. I took some deep breaths and a moments meditation and a few quick strokes and he was done. Mind you this wasn't the first one. I had a couple of goes, before I was happy with it. Even though he is looking down, I was pleased that I managed to capture his cheeky smile. It's not perfect, but it's a painting that jogs my memories of those happy days. If I wanted perfect, I would have taken a photo! Have fun! Best wishes, Tricia.

I apologise readers for not posting a blog for awhile. I have been busy doing lots of stuff which has thankfully included doing some oil paintings and attending a life drawing group. I also went over to the beach for awhile and studied the sea. I have attempted a couple of sea inspire paintings.
